Particle

Complete edge-to-cloud IoT platform

Particle is a popular integrated edge-to-cloud IoT platform that provides developers with hardware and software tools that allow them to easily prototype, scale, and manage various IoT solutions. Particle provides instruments for device management, network connectivity, tracking systems, data pipelines and cloud data storage.

Particle provides an open cloud API for simple integration of its platform with third-party solutions and export of data. Thanks to our flexible input APIs, Clarify can be easily connected to Particle, providing a cost-efficient and simple way of getting value from the time series IoT data sent to the platform.

Clarify makes it easy to visualize time series data from your IoT network, access it on web and mobile devices, as well as sharing data to other people. With Clarify, your organization can focus on key business goals instead of configuring dashboards or developing expensive custom solutions.

About Particle company

Particle (legal name of the company is Particle Industries) was founded in 2012 by Zach Supalla and Zachary Crockett. Particle is headquartered in San Francisco, the United States, with offices in Shenzhen (China), Minneapolis, Las Vegas and Boston.

In 2013, the company launched its IoT platform. According to Particle, its product is currently the most widely used integrated IoT platform in the world, supporting more than 8,500 companies and over 250,000 developers worldwide. Particle claims that more than half of companies listed in Fortune 500 deployed connected IoT devices powered by Particle, while its customers also include NASA and SpaceX.

Particle is a venture-backed company; since its establishment, it’s raised over $100 mln from venture funds, including Root Ventures, Bonfire Ventures, Industry Ventures, Spark Capital, Green D Ventures, Counterpart Ventures, and others.

About Particle IoT platform

Particle IoT platform provides users with a wide range of tools for prototyping, deploying and managing IoT systems.

Particle hardware

Particle has a number of hardware solutions for IoT developers. One of the main hardware tools by the company is Particle Photon, which is a microcontroller, equipped with a WiFi connection chip and a small amount of memory. It is used to interconnect various IoT network components to enable centralized control and analysis.

Hardware solutions by Particle include open source hardware development kits with Wi-Fi, cellular, and BLE connectivity for rapid prototyping of IoT solutions, industrial-grade and scalable production modules, and asset tracking systems powered by Particle’s platform.

Device OS

Device OS is Particle’s lightweight operating system developed for embedded IoT devices. It includes an easy-to-use IDE (integrated development environment) and programming framework for simplified creation of applications that will run on IoT devices.

Device OS includes Intelligent Firmware Release feature—which allows to complete a fleet-wide OTA (over-the-air) firmware update in minutes—for rapid deployment, and single device or fleet-wide OTA capabilities for seamless scaling.

Particle’s IoT data management capabilities

Particle platform allows users to manage all their IoT devices from a single central interface. It also has several notable data-related capabilities. Primarily, it’s the Particle Asset Tracking system that provides advanced tracking of critical asset data including real-time location, historical location, motion, temperature and sound. As well as IoT Data Pipeline service for easy data extraction from devices in an IoT network and its subsequent analysis.
